Results: My dear friend, Tammi Pettis won Silver Spurs Rodeo, Kissimmee, Florida on 6/7 on a client's horse, buckskin
stallion "Guys French Jet". Competition couldn't be tougher at a co-approved rodeo in Hugo, OK, 6/5 it was won by our
own, Tammy Bruso, by over 2/10ths against the likes of Mary Burger, Tammy Key Fischer and other big NFR names.
NBHA Florida State finals were held in June with 770 entries in the Open. It is not WPRA approved but many of our
members won checks in the go's and finals 1D/2D such as; Crystal Shumate, Tammi Pettis, Jen Conner, Sabra
O'Quinn, Wendy Culberson, Deb Brannon, Sally Young, Megan Warren, Jennifer Peurrung, Heather Kuhn, Amy Stevens
Watters and Ronda Butler to name a few.
On the road: From Lori Manning: "Hello everyone. Well I'm back on the road again. This time Myah got to come with me.
Bobby and I decided that I should hook up with 1 or 2 other girls to split expenses because the fuel is going up. I wanted
to bring all the kids but Luke decided he didn't want to miss any of his bull rides that were coming up. Sabra had a hard
time at first but I told her it was Myahs turn this time. She is doing fine now though. She is getting to do a lot of things
without her sister and she is getting all the attention. My trip started out well. I put bigger tires and rims on my trailer.
Bobby and I thought it would be better and in the long run it will, but after driving all night and all day to get to a rodeo to
meet Monica, so she could ride the horse I hauled for her, as I exited I-20, 30 miles from the rodeo, my wheel with tire
came off my trailer. I was able to retrieve my tire after yelling at a man who was trying to load it in his car that was my tire.
He heard me and dropped the tire and left. I got to the rodeo on one tire on that side. Thankfully this all happened off the
interstate. Monica was able to ride although she only had 10 minutes to saddle and warm up before running. We then left
there and followed our friend we stay with in Texas, Randa Kellogg. On the way to her house, we blew the tire on the
same side. A man from a cowboy church and a nother man stopped to help get a spare on. It was tricky. I could not put
the wheel and tire back on that fell off because the spindles were stripped. Anyway we made it and the man who
replaced my wheels and tires got me a new wheel and tire and made it right. Everything worked out. My first run I made I
would have placed but hit a barrel. I am using a different bit and I like it. The next rodeo I placed 5th. It was a good added
rodeo so for 5th it paid over 1000.00 . The next rodeo I won. It paid a little over 1000.00. Satan does try to play with your
mind to wonder if you have made the right decision, I feel I have. I will be hitting a lot of rodeos starting again this coming
Wednesday. Bobby and I hope that he and the other kids can fly out to one of the big rodeo in Wy. or Co. to see Myah and
me. Thanks for the prayers and continue please to pray as I will for all my friends and family. Love you all and I will try
and keep you updated. Lorie and Myah" Lorie, thanks for sharing we all wish you a safe, memorable and exciting road
trip!, Tina
Direct from our Director, Tamme Fussell: The circuit news will now be online at www.wpra.com, so to see these
articles, you must go there to read it. The directors and office are coming up with ways to save as much money for the
organization as possible, and this will save so many pages in our magazine. If you have questions or concerns, please

Spotlight on Squeak Larkins:
Squeak "The Florida Flash" has been a member of WPRA for over 32 years(1977) and has been barrel racing since
1972. She was born in Miami Beach, Florida. She lived in south Miami until she went to a boarding school in Northern
Virgina for her high school and some college years. She didn't finish college until recently, and she now has a PHD in
Animal Behavioral Science. She currently resides in Ocala, Florida. She still rides for others, especially problem
horses. She hasn't been hauling Pro, but is currently trying to make a rodeo level horse to start hauling. Over the years'
Squeak has admired a few mentors that she respects like; Frank Barnett, RE Josey, Dave Dearmond, Buster Welch,
Jimmy Blankenship, and Lannie Ashley. Most of these men come from the cutting world, and are great horseman.
Squeak comes from a Hunt Seat showing background prior to her barrel racing career. Squeak enjoys helping people
with their foundational horsemanship skills to better perform in barrel racing as a team. Squeak's main horse today is
“PEPPY”, but he is used more for cutting these days than anything else, as that is where he excels. Squeak is running a
black and white paint gelding by her beloved friend "Sibley" who has passed on. Squeak hopes if it's in God's plan for
her to make one more run at the circuit finals in her lifetime, she would really appreciate that journey. Qualifying and
running at the Circuit Finals in the past was one of her best memories in her rodeo career. Squeak has helped many
barrel racers in their rodeo careers over the years, Julie DeNapoli and her great horse Comet, are one of the great teams
that have sought Squeak's advice over the years.
Member News: (WPRA Member, Kaylon Fussell) Seth and Kaylon "Fussell" Rodriquez gave birth to a healthy 9lb, 9oz,
23" baby boy, born Thurs., 6/4/09. Seth is hopeful his son "Cash Clyde Rodriquez" will follow in his calf roping foot
steps. Seth placed at the Spurs rodeo the weekend his baby was born. They brought him to their Polk City, Florida
home on Sunday. Both mom and baby doing great, first night home he slept almost 6 hours straight! I am sure we will
see Kaylon back on the rodeo trail soon!
